Renée began her exploration of yoga and spirituality at age 17, starting as an athlete and dancer with incredibly tight hamstrings. Her exploration of yoga includes all styles, and she eventually established a homebase in Naam Yoga. Her studies deepened when she met Dr. Joseph Michael Levry, founder of Naam Yoga, in 1993 and continues to the present. Since that meeting, yoga and Divine Spiritual Wisdom have been a constant and guiding keel in her life.

Renée has loved to sing for as long as she can remember. Throughout her life she has sung in numerous choirs and musicals. As a teenager, she planned to major in classical voice, and then ended up with a BFA in dance. After graduating from college, she returned to her winding journey of music and singing. Renee spent six years singing with the Oratorio Society of New York, performing three times annually at Carnegie Hall and traveling to Rome, Venice and Paris. She studied performance with Elynn Diamond, became a member of a musical exploration and performance group, Wata Sound - headed by Marie Alfonso, formerly of Zap Mama, and helped create Takadoum, a women's acapella quartet. More recently, Renee has been singing back-up for Rootlight's Sacred Music series, and released a CD of sacred chanting, Peaceful Naam. After becoming a mother, she joined two friends to create Tres Leches (CD: Songs, Chants and Lullabies for All Our Relations), a world-infused urban folk group for people of all ages.

Chanting mantras has been the perfect merger of a spiritual practice and music.
