WHAT ARE NAAM THERAPEUTIC MOVEMENT SEQUENCES?
The whole cosmos is permeated by music and movement which form a unified whole. Ancient mystics understood that principle and learned to tap into it by combining sacred words, music and movement. By combining rhythmic movements that corresponded to specific geometrical figures with sacred sound they were able to access the bodies' innate healing energy and distribute it for health and wellbeing. Naam has two frequently used movement sequences that combine Naam meditation with movement for therapeutic benefit. The postures in these sequences flow gracefully, lending themselves to the practitioner with ease, regardless of their fitness level, yet their youth and health-giving benefits are extensive. Furthermore, vibrating Naam while moving the body supports and enhances one’s physical and mental wellbeing as well as our spiritual awareness and growth. Naam Yoga works on the totality of the human being, synchronizing him/her again with his/her true place within this vast Universe.
NAAM SIMRAN: THE SCIENCE OF HARMONY AND MOVEMENT
When we perform a posture or stretch a part of our body while vibrating Naam simultaneously, it heals and brings relaxation to all cells, muscles, organs and body parts involved. As a result, this relaxation of the whole body frees up stagnant or stuck energy, allowing the pranic force to move about the entire body. The entire body profits and is invigorated and rejuvenated. The Naam Simran (Simran means to repeat) movement sequence is an excellent example of this process. It cleanses and renews the body on all levels. and helps release emotional traumas, remove blockages, bring consciousness and set the path forward for good luck. Practiced on its own it is an effective sequence for health. Practiced before or as part of class it will magnify the effect of the class that follows.
THE DANCE OF LIGHT
WITH BLESSING NAAM
Keeping with this tradition, the Naam Yoga movements in the Dance of Light with Blessing Naam work with the Law that governs the relationship between sacred words, music and movement. Doing Naam with these movements infuse the body with the harmony, rhythm, music and geometrical figures contained within those forces which make the body healthy, bright and beautiful. . It is this precise combination of sacred words with music and movements in the Naam Yoga Dance of Light that leads to healing.
These two moving sequences are included as part of the Naam Level 2 Training Program and one can be certified to teach them by joining that program.
